How a UPI QR code works
A UPI QR code is a scannable representation of a payment link. This generator builds that link from the UPI ID, payee name and optional details you enter, then draws it as a black-and-white image in your browser. A compatible UPI app can read the image and display a payment screen. FreeBiller does not look up the account, verify the name, collect money or receive a payment confirmation. It only generates a QR from the details the user enters.
The downloaded image is static: its encoded details do not change after you save it. If your UPI ID or the information you want to display changes, create a new image and replace any old copies. A QR is a convenient way to share a payment destination, but the person paying still needs to review and authorise the transaction in their own app.
Who can use a payment QR?
A shop can place a tested QR near its counter so customers can scan it rather than type an identifier. Freelancers can prepare a QR for a client payment discussion, tuition teachers can share one alongside a fee reminder, and small sellers can include one with an order summary. Use an identifier that you are authorised to publish, and choose a payee name that helps the intended customer recognise the destination.
A standalone QR does not replace an invoice or a receipt. Keep your transaction documents and check the payment record in your bank or UPI app separately. This page is not connected to a bank account, and generating or downloading the picture does not mean that anyone has paid you.
With amount or without amount
Leave the amount empty to create a QR without a preset value. This can be useful for a counter where different customers make purchases of different sizes. Enter an amount when preparing a QR for a particular order or fee, and the link will include that value in rupees with two decimal places. The scanning app controls its own payment screen, so review the amount it actually displays rather than assuming the image locks every field.
The optional note can hold a short order reference to help explain a request. Avoid including confidential information in it: anyone who receives the QR or payment link may be able to read the encoded fields. Open Technical details to inspect the exact link before downloading. Check spelling, the UPI ID and the decimal point carefully.
Print and place a QR sticker
Download PNG saves a high-resolution image suitable for adding to your own layout. Print sticker opens a white A5 card containing the payee name, Scan to pay caption, UPI ID and QR. Review the print preview and select the appropriate paper and scale settings for your printer. Keep the whole code visible, including the clear white border around its edges. Do not crop that border or place artwork over the code.
Place a printed sticker on a flat surface with enough light for a phone camera. Avoid a fold through the image, reflective coverings or a location where the code becomes too small to scan comfortably. After printing, check the physical copy as well as the on-screen version; ink quality, resizing and glare can change readability.
Test the destination before sharing
Scan the QR with your own UPI app and check the name before you print or share it. Compare the destination shown by the app with the account you intend to use, and review any amount and note. If the displayed information is unexpected, stop and correct the inputs rather than publishing the image. An entered display name is not proof of account ownership.
Repeat the scan test when you change details, resize the PNG or replace a sticker. Check an installed sticker periodically to make sure it has not been damaged or covered by another code. The generator does not promise payment receipt or guarantee that a payment will succeed; app support, account status, authorisation and transaction limits are handled by the services involved in the payment.
